The Maynooth Post Primary School implemented History in a Box in its history teaching to Transition Year Students on April 10 and 17 2018. During these two 2-hour teaching classes, students were briefly introduced to the History in a Box project and they were then encouraged to explore the Battle of Mount Street Bridge by using the primary sources, photographs, 3D printed buildings and tablet-based content from the History in a Box toolkit. Students worked in groups going through both lessons designed in History in a Box, “Before the battle” and “The battle”. At the end of both classes, all groups came together to present their findings in order to get a broader understanding of the battle. The project team discussed with the students for their overall experience and documented their feedback for future developments of the project in interactive evaluation assignments.
