On 20 November, at the Virtual Heritage Network Conference, Contested Memories: Battle of Mount Street Bridge project was made publicly available. Brigadier General Michael Beary, General Officer Commanding, 2nd Brigade of the Irish Defence Forces launched the project, commenting on the significance of the battle, both contemporaneously and today.
This stage of the virtual world is a representation of the main site of the battle as it existed in Easter 1916 as the Sherwood Foresters approached 25 Northumberland Road on their march into Dublin’s city centre.
Please note: The virtual world is undergoing an upgrade at present as we transfer the work from Unity Webplayer to the WebGL standard. While the world can be explored it is missing our annotations and as such is not complete.
